Abstract:
Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies and Oerlikon industrial group, whose largest shareholder is Renova Group, a leading Russian asset-management company, today signed Strategic Cooperation Agreement. The Agreement signed by Leonid Melamed, RUSNANO Director General, and Vladimir Kuznetsov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OC Oerlikon Corporation AG creates a basis for the broad-spectrum cooperation that enables "complementary experience in the field of nanotechnologies" of its initiators. Agreement signing event was also attended by Executive Vice President R&D, Dr. Andreas Widl and RUSNANO Deputy Director General Alexander Losyukov.
"Since Renova Group became a shareholder of Oerlikon in 2006, the high-tech industrial group consistently aims to develop projects on the promising Russian market," said Vladimir Kuznetsov. "I believe that cooperation with the RUSNANO will be fruitful both for Oerlikon and for development of high-technology projects in Russia."
"We have been thoroughly preparing this agreement for 6 months. Both sides surely recognized the large potential for cooperation," said Leonid Melamed. "There is no doubt that cooperation with Oerlikon will help us gain experience in nanotechnology commercialization. We already work together on several projects in the field of solar technology, nanotextile and nanocoatings. We plan to involve experts from Oerlikon Balzers into project applications evaluation and organize training for Russian specialists at Oerlikon Balzers facilities in the framework of our educational projects."
Thin-film nanocoatings for manufacturing, automotive and aerospace industry, solar technology and textile industry are supposed to become the main fields of cooperation between RUSNANO and Oerlikon industrial group in the framework of the agreement.
RUSNANO Corporation and Oerlikon industrial group intend to establish regular working contacts for the detailed search, examination and realization of research and investment projects is these fields.
Oerlikon Group is one of the most innovative and research-intensive industrial groups in the world. The company is active in research and development in the field of nanotechnology, semiconductor and vacuum technology (an official partner of AMD, Philips and Infineon companies), and data storage technology. Oerlikon is the exclusive partner of Texas Instrument Company in production of front projection displays. The company is also an exclusive supplier of satellite-to-satellite navigation systems and equipment for NASA and Arianespace program. 60% of all CD and DVD and 80% of iPod players are produced using Oerlikon equipment. Oerlikon industrial group includes 80 industrial and research units in 25 countries of the world, with its headquarters located in the city of Pfäffikon (Switzerland).

About Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies
Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies (RUSNANO) was established in 2007 by the Federal law № 139-FZ to enable Government policy in the field of Nanotechnology.
To accomplish this task, the Corporation co-invests in nanoindustry projects with high commercial potential or social benefit. Early stage investment from the Corporation lowers the risk of its investment partners from the private sector.
The Corporation participates in building nanotechnology infrastructure, which includes the nanotechnology centers of excellence, business incubators and early stage investment funds. The Corporation provides scientific and educational programs that are required for its investment projects to succeed, and also supports the popularization of nanoscience and nanotechnology. The Corporation selects projects for investment on the basis of longer-term foresights/predictions created by the leading Russian and world experts.
To assist the Russian nanoindustry advance to the global market and strengthening of its international links the Corporation develops partnerships with the leading nanotechnology centers in the world and organizes the annual Nanotechnology International Forum in Russia.
