![]() |
Abstract:
NanoHorizons Inc., a leader in the creation of nanoscale performance additives for textile, health care, and industrial applications, will extend its global antimicrobial business to Turkey through Uniteks of Istanbul, who will act as the SmartSilver distributor to the Turkish market.
SmartSilver is an international brand of antimicrobial additives that are engineered using a patented process to integrate silver nanoparticles at the molecular level into a variety of textile, healthcare, and industrial products.
Uniteks will focus its SmartSilver textile sales efforts in the apparel, carpet, and home furnishings sectors. Uniteks is a leader in the sale of textile auxiliaries and dye stuffs to the Turkish domestic market and, as such, has an exceptional client base from which to introduce SmartSilver™ technology to Turkey's textile industry.
SmartSilver's nanotechnology provides permanent, safe, and cost effective protection against bacteria associated with odors and material degradation. Available in a variety of production ready formulations for natural and synthetic fibers and fabrics, SmartSilver won't compromise the performance of other additives nor will it affect the textile's aesthetic qualities. SmartSilver additives are approved by Oeko-Tex® as free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances believed to be hazardous to human health. The additives are also US EPA registered.
"Through our strategic alliance with Uniteks, we will continue SmartSilver's international growth into a critical textile market," says Timothy Skedzuhn, VP Textile Business Unit, NanoHorizons. "Uniteks is a well respected, highly successful textile company and is committed to establishing SmartSilver as the antimicrobial technology of choice in Turkey."
"SmartSilver is the best performing and most cost effective antimicrobial product available today," says Tarik Sokmen of Uniteks. "We are excited to make SmartSilver available to the Turkish marketplace, especially to the apparel, carpet and home furnishing markets where antimicrobial performance is a highly valued benefit."
Uniteks has established a new SmartSilver business unit and will begin marketing SmartSilver in Turkey immediately.
