Silicon Valley Offers "Bloom Box" Alternative Energy Solution
Abstract:
K.R. Sridhar's Bloom Box, an innovative fuel cell, will perhaps be the first miniature commercial generating set for the global household. This wireless black box developed by NASA rocket scientist and Indian entrepreneur Sridhar was unveiled Wednesday morning as Silicon Valley's answer to Big Oil.
Though secretively developed, it is believed to have gone through rigorous trials on the campuses of internet biggies like eBay and Google. Based on the results of trial tests it is reported to have signed up Fortune 100 companies like Walmart and FedEx as its first clients.
The Bloom Box is comprised of a small stack of ceramic disks coated with proprietary green and black inks and separated by metal plates. It is powered by hydro-carbons or bio-fuels from an adjacent tank and is free from vibration, noise, and smell, according to Sridhar.
