Experts Underline Role of Nano-Based Products in Energy Conservation

Iran | Posted on December 20th, 2009

"Today, a variety of nano-based products with different applications have been mass-produced. For example, using heat insulation materials made by nanotechnology has an important role in lessening heat loss from buildings," Reza Doust Mohammadian, an energy economy expert reiterated.

"Application of the mentioned insulations was very efficient for instance in energy conservation of Mashhad Power Plant for steam transfer, refrigerator containers, livestock, poultry, and greenhouses," Doust Mohammadian added.

According to him, products, including different types of briefcases, bottle cover, and insulation nano-cloth have already been mass produced and come into the market.

Noting that nanocover is a product which comprises multiple layers to preserve temperature and prevent heat loss, he added that the main layer is the one made of silica aerogel nanoparticles by means of modern nanotechnology.

Doust Mohammadian emphasized that nanotechnology has brought about a new field of knowledge, stressing, "The products produced by means of this knowledge cost one third of their foreign counterparts. The mentioned dye which is a resistant coating to corrosion has a high thermal resistance as well."
