Iran Makes Nano-Crystal Coated Titanium
Abstract:
Iranian researchers have successfully made pure nano-crystal coated titanium using plasma electrolytic boriding for industrial purposes.
According to a study published in the Journal of Materials Science, the resistance of the hardened titanium against corrosion and erosion depends on the size, the form and the distribution of nano-crystals in the coating.
"Various factors influencing surface hardening processes are assessed in order to achieve optimal resistance to corrosion and erosion while producing these unique borided coatings," the team's lead researcher Mahmoud Aliof Khazraei told Iranian Nanotechnology Initiative.
