Research Nanotechnology, forestry groups work together to improve wood-based products
Abstract:
Nanotechnology researchers at the University of New Brunswick are eager to find new uses for the province's forests.
Felipe Chibante, the Richard J. Currie chair in nanotechnology at the faculty of engineering of the University of New Brunswick, says his nanotechnology group is working on collaborating more with forestry researchers on campus.
"We have a strong pulp and paper group here and we have a strong forestry group. They would make valuable partners in like-minded projects," he said.
"We're going to be doing some things with them on nanotech and wood products."
Chibante has been busy setting up UNB's nanotechnology laboratory at the Fredericton campus for nearly a year, putting in place equipment, funding and partnerships with private sector businesses and with other university researchers.
