Home > Press > Shock Doctor Incorporates SmartSilver Anti-Odor Nanotechnology
Abstract:
NanoHorizons(tm), Inc., an emerging leader in applied nanoscale materials and solutions, today announced that Shock Doctor (www.ShockDoctor.com) has chosen SmartSilver(tm) anti-odor and antimicrobial technology as the next logical step in developing leadership technology in its sporting goods lines. NanoHorizons' SmartSilver, the smarter anti-odor and antimicrobial answer(tm), is a nanoscale-engineered additive designed to create permanent anti-odor and antimicrobial protection in fibers and fabrics. Shock Doctor products with SmartSilver will be available to consumers in the fall of 2007.
Shock Doctor manufactures and distributes performance protection products for team and individual sports. The company has a dominant market share of performance mouthguards, and is a premium supplier of protective equipment for hockey, lacrosse, baseball, football, martial arts and motor-sports.
"From mouthguards, to motor-sports to hockey shorts, Shock Doctor gear is built for athletes who want the confidence that they have the best in performance and protection," said Jay Turkbas, VP Product Development, Shock Doctor. "SmartSilver's performance and permanence are ideal for this market, where gear goes through tough usage and many washes, and is used by athletes with high expectations of their equipment."
SmartSilver(tm) Nanoscale Technology
Permanent, effective and simple to use in manufacturing, SmartSilver delivers the antimicrobial power of pure silver without forcing designers seeking leadership anti-odor performance to compromise in other areas, such as dye performance, hand, stretch, durability, or manufacturability. SmartSilver additives are engineered to be easily used in existing textile manufacturing equipment to evenly disperse anti-odor SmartSilver that forms permanent bonds with fiber structures ranging from natural cotton to rayon, polyester, nylon, polypropylene and polyurethane.
