Abstract:
Iranian researchers increased the important properties of supercapacitors, including power, energy and lifetime by using nanotechnology.
Results of the research have applications in medical, information and energy industries.
Today, more studies are carried out on green and sustainable energies, including cells, fuel cells, and supercapacitors due to the consumption of energy sources and reduction in the amount of fossil fuels. Supercapacitors have attracted the attention of researchers due to their low time of charging, high power and long cyclic life. Therefore, the researchers have tried in this research to improve properties of supercapacitors made of nickel molybdate such as capacity, power and cyclic life by using very regular nanoporous structures.
Low energy is one of the most important problems in the extension of the applications of supercapacitors. In this research, the energy of supercapacitor increased significantly (117 Wh/kg) by using nanoporous structures of nickel molybdate. The power and cyclic life of the supercapacitor have also increased due to the nanoporous structure. As a result, very regular structures of nickel molybdate can be used in supercapacitors as an active material with very high performance.
Among the applications of supercapacitors, mention can be made of production of medical devices, microwave, wind turbines, and generally speaking, in all industries that require high electrical current in short time periods.
Based on the results obtained from studying the properties of supercapacitors, the nanoporous structure has very higher performance than the sample without pores.
Results of the research have been published in Ceramics International, vol. 41, issue 1, Part B, 2015, pp. 1831-1837.
