Abstract:
Xmark Media the organisers of Photonex 2013, the UK's showcase photonics conference & exhibition announce the programme and speakers for the meeting on Nano and Bio-Imaging. This FREE-to-attend conference will be held on Wednesday 16th October as part of a diverse two-day event at the visitor-friendly Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
Significant advances in the development of optical techniques have led to an inter-disciplinary use of photonics in the study of various problems in the life sciences, in biological and chemical sciences, in medicine, clinical sciences, neurophysiology etc. Researchers are continually looking for better ways to analyse complex processes.
After the success of 2012 event, organisers, Xmark Media, are pleased to announce a full day of presentations highlighting the advances that have been made in high-resolution imaging techniques. Nine speakers have agreed to present their latest research results to show attendees some of the exciting possibilities available today. The line-up includes world-renowned speaker from Denmark, Professor Jesper Glükstad who is to talk about a mesoscopic toolbox for biophotonics. "Watching immune cells kill using super-resolution microscopy" demonstrates how photonics is no longer the sole domain of the physics department showing the latest developments in high resolution microscopy. It is expected that attendees will be attracted from far and wide to listen, connect and network with leaders in photonics from the UK's vibrant research community.
One of the organising Technical Programme Committee and co-chairperson for the meeting is Dr Frederic Festy, a senior lecturer at King's College London, speaks about the meeting. "We are very excited by the level of new science being presented at Photonex. As well as the talks, we are now looking for poster contributions to the meeting which will provide a great environment for networking for delegates and speakers alike. My co-chairs and I are looking forward to an exciting day in Coventry in October."
Photonex, now in its 22nd year organised by Xmark Media is reporting on increased reservations for space for this year's exhibition with companies coming from across the globe to share their latest technology from components to complete turnkey solutions applying photonics. Co-located with Photonex is Vacuum Expo, an event dedicated to vacuum technologies. There is significant technology overlap such as when photonics is applied for surface analysis or when fibre optics are used for securing access to the vacuum environment.
Potential visitors and contributors to the scientific programme are encouraged to visit Photonex website (www.photonex.org) and to register to visit today.
