The largest-ever graduating class at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) of the University at Albany (UAlbany) is providing a shot in the arm for New York's rapidly expanding nanotechnology industry as they launch careers with leading global high-tech companies in the Empire State.

A diverse class of 23 CNSE students - including 13 students from the United States and 10 international students - received degrees in Nanoscale Science and Nanoscale Engineering during UAlbany's winter commencement ceremonies held on Sunday, December 4. The class included 11 students who were awarded Ph.D.'s and 12 students who received Master's degrees, representing each of CNSE's four constellations: Nanoscale Science, Nanoscale Engineering, Nanobioscience and Nanoeconomics.



Altogether, more than 75 percent of CNSE's graduating class will remain in New York state. Graduates have landed engineering and research positions with IBM, Intel, GlobalFoundries, Tokyo Electron Ltd., SEMATECH, Novellus Systems and CNSE, as well as post-doctoral positions in academia. In addition, several Master's degree graduates have enrolled in CNSE's Ph.D. program.
