Home > Press > Xanofi Demonstrates Their Game Changing Production of Nanofibers
Abstract:
Xanofi, a company specializing in producing custom, low-cost, functional nanofibers for applications announces their upcoming event schedule and demonstrations. The company is currently identifying industry partners that seek nanotechnology solutions for their products.
A spin-out of NC State's Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization program and the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Xanofi specializes in producing nanofibers for applications in medicine, lighting, energy, filtration and performance textiles. The patent pending XanoShear method for creating nanofibers lowers the overall cost of production and increases yields to 20 times that of traditional commercial processes.
Xanofi will be demonstrating at the WBT Showcase March 22-23 in Arlington, Texas. WBT is the world's largest forum offering a prescreened, pre-prepped collection of undiscovered companies and intellectual property emanating from top universities, labs and research institutions from across the country and around the globe.
Xanofi was also chosen to demonstrate at the CED Venture Conference in Raleigh, NC which is themed "ALL THINGS TECH in 2011" April 27-28. The Venture conference showcases the region's most promising technology companies to an audience of top tier investors and entrepreneurial leaders.
June 13-16, Nanotech 2011, will be held in Boston, Massachusetts and is the largest host of the Nanotech, BioNanotech, Microtech, Clean Technology and TechConnect conferences. Xanofi was recently selected to present their accepted paper titled "A New Scalable Technique for Continuous Nanofiber Fabrication from Sheared Liquid Dispersions". Authors of the paper are Miles C. Wright, Pete Geisen, Sumit Gangwal, Stoyan K. Smoukov and Orlin D. Velev. Xanofi will also be demonstrating their technology on the tradeshow floor.

About
Xanofi, a highly innovative startup and spinout company from North Carolina State University, will change the global landscape this year on how nanofibers are manufactured with a new platform process that is highly efficient and easy to integrate into production environments. Using a patented technique called XanoShear™, the scalable Xanofi process will produce nanofibers at less than half the cost and yields of 20 times higher than current methods. According to BCC Research 2010 Report Nano43B, Nanofiber production (any fiber with a diameter smaller than 1,000 nm) is booming, growing at a rate of 34% per year and projected to become a multi-billion industry within the next ten years. This game-changing technology will enable many more industrial and consumer products to reach the market sooner.
