NANO VENT-SKIN: Solar, wind and nanotechnology combine to deliver a new green alternative

Abstract:
Mexican born Agustin Otegui is reaching out to Calgarians and Albertans to help him bring a new green alternative to the market. Analyzing architecture and understanding leading-edge power technologies inspired Otegui to design Nano Vent-Skin (NVS). "Since Architecture is focused mainly in building habitable spaces, all the industry behind it invests more money in developing products that solve almost the same needs. Watching how all the architects were focusing on building bigger and bigger structures with turbines at the same scale, I thought why shouldn't we think on a smaller scale," explains Otegui. Nano Vent-Skin (NVS) was designed as a green alternative for existing buildings or smaller scale projects.

Nano Vent-Skin works in a very efficient way. Basically, it combines solar and miniature wind turbines to create energy. The outer skin of the structure absorbs sunlight through an organic photovoltaic skin that transfers it to the nano-fibers inside the nano-wires. This is then sent to the storage units at the end of each panel.
