Abstract:
Iranian Deputy Minister of Housing and Urban Development Mohammad Ja'far Alizadeh during a visit to Iran Nano Festival 2010 emphasized the use of nanotechnology in the housing projects implemented by the government in Iran.
"Making use of nanotechnology-based proposed packages is rarely seen in Iran because energy has always been a cheap commodity in this country and its wasting amount has always been high. Correcting the citizens and organizations' attitude towards nanotechnology can be a good solution so we can save energy more than before," Alizadeh said in an interview with the news desk of the Third Iran Nanotechnology Festival in Tehran.
Asked about the approach of Ministry of Housing towards nanotechnology in the implementation of large state projects, he said, "Perhaps due to the economic considerations, we could not do anything in this regard in the past. However, considering the future circumstances and the implementation of the Subsidy Reform Plan, the necessity to save and to properly consume energy has become more noticeable than ever."
Alizadeh also promised the manufacturer companies active in the field of nanotechnology that the Ministry of Housing would include in its agenda the use of modern technologies such as nanotechnology since one of the policies of the Tenth Government is to pay special attention to the new technologies produced domestically.
"Ministry of Housing can make use of nanotechnology in the construction of hospitals, schools, and the government buildings. However, let us not forget that a large part of nanotechnology products in Iran are still at the stage to obtain the necessary licenses and standards. Nonetheless, the government and the private sector must find ways for the commercial markets of such products," the Deputy Minister of Housing and Urban Development further added.
