Vicki Grassian has been named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). The honor was formally announced in the June 24 edition of The Times of London.

Posted on August 2nd, 2010Vicki Grassian has been named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry ( RSC ). The honor was formally announced in the June 24 edition of The Times of London.
Fellow designation is granted to RSC members who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement or application of chemical science, to the chemicals science profession or to the management or direction of an organization in which chemical science is important. The RSC is the largest organization in Europe for the advancement of the chemical sciences.
Grassian is professor in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department of Chemistry and has research interests in the potential health and environmental effects of tiny industrial building blocks at the nanoparticle level. She is director of the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Institute at the University of Iowa.
In addition to her RSC honor, Grassian was named a Fellow of the American Vacuum Society , a nonprofit scientific member society of the American Institute of Physics and focused on the science and technology of materials and interfaces.
Grassian was cited for her important contributions in understanding the chemistry of environmental interfaces under ambient conditions of temperature and relative humidity.
