Abstract:
Leading international experts on the global regulation of nanotechnologies, including scientists, lawyers, ethicists and officials from governments, industry stakeholders, and NGOs will join in a two-day conference May 7-8, 2010 at Northeastern University's School of Law
The conference will identify best practices that address the needs of industries, the public and regulators. Speakers include representatives from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Brazil Ministry of Science and Technology, the Korean government, the International Conference of Chemicals Management and National Science Foundation-funded university-industry collaborations.
Speakers at the Global Regulation of Nanotechnologies Conference will discuss the challenges, gaps and opportunities of the current legal framework for nanotechs and its ability to protect workers, companies, consumers and the global commons. Panels will focus on domestic and international regulation, intellectual property rights, commercial aspects of nanotech development, and ethical issues.
The conference is open to government employees, industry experts, consumer groups, lawyers, and academics. Continuing Legal Education accreditation, including ethics credits, will be sought for the conference.
The cost is $200 for academic/non profit/public officials; $300 for private sectors; and $20 for students.
