’Vliet school first to offer eighth grade nanotechnology class
Abstract:
The Watervliet Junior-Senior High School is the first area public institution to offer a nanotechnology class at the eight grade level, district officials said.
This school year saw the inception of an honors eighth grade class with a focus on physical science for the first semester and nanotechnology for the second.
The curriculum includes learning about physics and then about more complex subjects like nanotechnology, including how it affects light emitting diodes.
Clinton Ballinger, CEO of Evident Technologies in Troy, gave a power point presentation and then did hands on activities with the honors class of 16 students and nine other students from the school.
