Abstract:
SouthWest NanoTechnologies Inc. (SWeNT) has received the prestigious Frost & Sullivan 2010 North American Technology Innovation Award in Carbon Nanotubes.

SouthWest NanoTechnologies receives Frost & Sullivan Award

Norman, OK | Posted on March 2nd, 2010

The company was honored with this highly coveted award for its innovative CoMoCAT® nanotube production process by this global research organization, which monitors more than 300 industries and 250,000 companies with more than 1,800 analysts.

According to Frost & Sullivan's Report, "The Technology Innovation Award is recognition of SWeNT's accomplishments in the Nanocomposites sector. Frost & Sullivan firmly believes that this recognition positively impacts brand value and should accelerate SWeNT's growth."

"SWeNT scored significantly higher than its peers in the nanotube manufacturing sector with a scalable, high consistency product that could help expand the commercial reality of carbon nanotube (CNT) applications," explains Rajaram Vijayan, Frost & Sullivan senior research analyst for Chemicals, Materials and Food. "It is our unbiased and impartial view that SouthWest Nanotechnologies is worthy of investment and a strong development partner."

"This Award represents further validation of our superior production capabilities and demonstrates that we are leaders in commercial production of high quality CNT," explains SouthWest Nanotechnologies CEO Dave Arthur. "We are grateful for the acknowledgement and the impact it will have on our future growth."

For the Technology Innovation Award, the following criteria were used to benchmark SWeNT's performance against key competitors:

• Uniqueness of the Technology
• Impact on New Products/Applications
• Impact on Functionality
• Impact on Customer Value
• Relevance of the Innovation to the Industry

SouthWest NanoTechnologies, Inc. (SWeNT) is receiving this accolade for its commercial implementation of CoMoCAT® technology, used to produce high quality single-wall CNTs (SWCNTs) and specialty multi-wall CNTs (MWCNTs). This patented catalytic technology is being used to harness the unique mechanical, electrical, and chemical properties of CNTs, and allows optimized dispersion with fewer defects and good length retention. It is scalable to multi-ton production without reduction in quality or properties.

This technology has been employed in conjunction with Chasm Technologies' "V2V™ Ink Technology" to produce unique, printable CNT-based inks. SWeNT® CNTs can now be easily printed on large-area and low cost devices for a wide range of applications including improved energy storage, energy-efficient lighting, printed electronics and affordable photovoltaics. SWeNT CNT's are also used in the production of nanoPly™ Smart Fabrics.

SouthWest NanoTechnologies Inc. holds a strong patent portfolio for fabrication of nanotubes which contains exclusive licenses for 11 patents from the University of Oklahoma. In addition, SWeNT holds non-exclusive licenses to patents from both IBM and NEC. The Company has been leveraging its expertise in manufacturing catalytic based CNTs to develop innovative and tailor-made solutions for each of its customers.

SWeNT CEO Dave Arthur will receive the Award at a special Frost & Sullivan banquet on April 29th at the Grand Hyatt in San Antonio, TX.
