Cover Story: Organic Nanocomputers
Abstract:
Most of the world's electronic devices currently rely on silicon. Well and good for the moment, but there's an adage about eggs and baskets that leaps to mind. As global demand for electronics increases, fed by the fantastic rate of innovation in communications, data storage and personal entertainment, alternative materials to silicon need to be developed in order to cope with the demand. And these materials should, naturally, be plentiful, cheap to manufacture, and compatible with mass-production of finished components and devices.
