Obama Announces $2 Billion Grant Program to Develop Batteries for Plug-in Hybrids
Abstract:
The President of the United States, Barack Obama, announced on March 19, 2009, that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is launching a US$2 billion competitive grant program to fund the development of batteries that will power plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The DOE will also provide another US$400 million to develop the infrastructure, such as truck stop charging stations, necessary to get hybrids on the road.
