Abstract:
Leading microfludics and nanotechnology development company mPhase Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: XDSL), today announced that it has released a video demonstrating how its manually activated reserve lithium battery with breakable separator is used to power a LED Maglite flashlight. The piece is narrated and intended for anyone interested in viewing the battery's function.

mPhase/AlwaysReady Releases Video on Smart NanoBattery Flashlight Demo

Little Falls, NJ | Posted on October 2nd, 2008

The video shows that mPhase's manually activated reserve lithium battery prototype with compact planar geometry (3" long x 2" wide x 0.3' thick) can provide the voltage and capacity to immediately power a high intensity LED that will run at full brightness for over two hours -- enough backup power for an emergency situation. The breakable separator inside the battery keeps the liquid electrolyte away from the solid electrodes until the battery is activated by simply pressing the center of the pack. The battery has potentially infinite shelf life so it is always ready to provide Power On Command™ when needed.

mPhase CEO Ronald A. Durando said, "Our ability to rapidly prototype a manually activated reserve lithium battery with energy density suitable for a practical application such as an emergency flashlight is an important step in our product commercialization efforts. We look forward to improving this battery's design as we continue to develop our more sophisticated Smart NanoBattery with the electrowetable membrane."

The video is available for viewing on the mPhase website at mphasetech.com/technology.html.
