UTSA wins $175,000 science grant for water treatment research
Abstract:
The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) will receive $174,054 in funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for a project that will research efficient and cost-effective water treatment and remediation technologies.
The funding comes from a program called BRIGE (Broadening Participation Research Initiation Grants in Engineering) and the funds will support a project titled, "Sorption Behavior of Contaminants to Manufactured Nanomaterials for Potential Use as Remediation and Water Treatment Technologies." It will involve investigating the mechanisms and the ability of nanomaterials to absorb specific contaminants.
