Samsung Develops 90-nano Smart Card Chip

Abstract:
Samsung Electronics, the world's leading maker of computer memory chips, said Thursday it has developed a highly efficient new smart card chip for use in credit cards and wireless products.

The new smart card chip, which uses the company's 90-nano production technology and is to be mass produced later in the year, has a built-in 288 kilobyte EEPROM, or electrically erasable and programmable ROM, Samsung said in a statement.
