Technology can revolutionise agricultural growth
Abstract:
Nanotechnology has been successfully used to impart antimicrobial properties to fabrics. Jute-synthetic fibre blends have been successfully prepared for apparel and geo-textiles. Water-and termite-resistant jute-fibreglass reinforced shellac sheets for partition walls and panels have been developed. Community-level evaporatively cooled storage structures could be an important link in the cool chain development for horticultural produce. Technologies for long shelf-life of paneer, gulabjamun mix and palada paysam mix have been transferred to industry. Efforts have been made to develop rapid diagnostic kits to test adulteration in ghee and milk, and probiotic yogurt has been developed as a functional food.
