The Bullitt Environmental Prize
Abstract:
The first Bullitt Environmental Prize, established in Collins' honor, was awarded to Aimy Ming Jii Bazlak, a PhD candidate in mechanical engineering at the University of Victoria.
The prize carries an award of $100,000 over two years.
The money comes from the Bullitt Foundation, which supports environmental causes in the Northwest, British Columbia and Alaska.
A daughter of Chinese immigrants, Aimy has already done research in plasma physics, nanotechnology, microfabrication and computational fluid dynamics. She gives frequent lectures on energy and climate change to school audiences and business organizations.
Aimy plans to devote her career to improving the performance of fuel cells, facilitating the transition to a hydrogen-based economy. Her doctoral thesis is focused on microscale fuel cells.
