5/4 "The First Step: Mechanics of Starting a Small Business" is the first of a two-part seminar being presented by Pitt's Small Business Development Center. The free seminar will be held from 7:30 to 10 a.m., Mervis Hall, Roberto Clemente Drive, Oakland. Registration is required. To register, call 412-648-1542 before noon, Mondays through Fridays. 5/7 Charles Martin, Crow Professor of Chemistry at the University of Florida, will deliver a lecture titled "Nanoscience in Bioanalytical Chemistry 1: Fabrication and Bio-functionalization of Nanotube-membrane Sensors" at 4 p.m., Room 12, Chevron Science Center, 219 Parkman Ave., Oakland. This free event is part of the 27th Annual Conference Lecture series sponsored by Pitt's Department of Chemistry. For more information, visit www.chem.pitt.edu.
