Purdue research a boon to farmers
Abstract:
Research being done at Purdue University could fuel growth in the agricultural sector, Purdue University President Martin C. Jischke said during his visit Thursday to the Fort Wayne Farm Show.
Biotechnology and nanotechnology research could make it possible in the near future to develop miniature sensors that can detect spoilage organisms in food before it’s packaged. The grains of the future could contain high levels of nutrients, eliminating the need for vitamins or dietary supplements that are often ineffective, Jischke said.
