Abstract:
Leti, a research institute of CEA Tech, today announced that Leti’s embedded sensor fusion solution, SigmaFusion, has been embedded in Infineon Technologies’ AURIXTM TC29x platform. This platform enables automotive developers to control powertrain, body, safety and ADAS applications with one single microcontroller family.

Leti’s Autonomous-Vehicle System Embedded in Infineon’s AURIX Platform: Leti’s Low-Power, Multi-Sensor System that Transforms Distance Data into Clear Information About the Driving Environment Will Be Demonstrated at ITS Meeting in Strasbourg, June 19-22

Grenoble, France | Posted on June 20th, 2017

SigmaFusion is Leti’s low-power, sensor-fusion solution that transforms the myriad of incoming distance data into clear information about the driving environment. It combines, merges and feeds exhaustive data to an autonomous car's autopilot perception layer. The system is able to detect any kind of obstacle and to assess obstacle-free spaces for safe route navigation.

Other SigmaFusion highlights include:

Environment perception based on multi-sensor detection
Compatibility with any kind of sensors providing either raw or object data
Safe assessment of the free space surrounding the vehicle thanks to occupancy grid generation
Predictable behavior and proven reliability standing on mathematical foundations

Leti will demonstrate SigmaFusion at the 12th ITS European Conference in Strasbourg, France, June 19-22, in booth S9.

AURIX™ includes an innovative multicore architecture based on 32-bit TriCore™ CPUs. It was designed to meet the highest safety standards, while increasing performance.

“SigmaFusion is compatible with any type of sensor, and provides fast, accurate environmental perception and real-time performance in a mass-market microcontroller. In addition, it is 100 times more efficient than comparable systems, and tailored to various platform, vehicle types and models,” said Leti marketing manager Michael Tchagaspanian.

“The AURIX™ family advances the automated and electrical car,” said Ralf Koedel, director, microcontrollers at the Automotive Division of Infineon Technologies AG. “Its extensive, vast feature set makes AURIX™ the architecture of choice in sensor-fusion applications. AURIXTM is responsible for safe and secure decision making, such as whether or not to initiate the automatic emergency braking.”

The AURIX™ multicore microcontrollers feature the highest safety performance in the market in combination with the highest security level up to Evita high standard. In addition, they offer the latest high-speed connectivity, e.g. GB Ethernet and the biggest integrated ASIL-D memory configuration, with 16MB flash and 6.9MB SRAM.
