Home > Press > BESSTECH’s Innovative Battery Technology is Highlighted During Featured Presentations at SEMICON West 2015: CEO Fernando Gómez-Baquero delivers invited remarks at the event’s Silicon Innovation Forum and Semiconductor Technology Symposium
Abstract:
BESSTECH LLC, a developer of innovative components that improve lithium-ion battery performance with reduced cost, was well represented at leading semiconductor industry tradeshow SEMICON West 2015 as CEO Fernando Gómez-Baquero delivered presentations on July 14 at two of the event’s high-profile gatherings.
BESSTECH was among the start-up companies seeking investment capital that was invited to present at the Silicon Innovation Forum. Gómez-Baquero discussed how the advent of roll-to-roll (R2R) semiconductor processing – which enables BESSTECH’s low-cost, high-performance, silicon-based anodes for lithium-ion battery applications – can serve the needs of both the traditional lithium-ion and growing solid-state battery space, driving significant performance improvements along with dramatic cost reductions.
Later that day, Gómez-Baquero spoke at a Semiconductor Technology Symposium panel exploring opportunities for IDMs, foundries and semiconductor supply chain providers to expand into adjacent markets. BESSTECH was featured as one of the companies that has successfully penetrated emerging opportunities by applying more efficient semiconductor processing techniques into lithium-ion battery formats.
“BESSTECH is delighted to have had the opportunity to share its innovative technology with participants and attendees at the seminal SEMICON West 2015 tradeshow,” said Gómez-Baquero. “By integrating the technology roadmap and process know-how of the semiconductor industry, BESSTECH is poised to capitalize on the need for more energetic, lighter and faster lithium-ion batteries to serve the fast-growing global market for both consumer and industrial solutions.”
BESSTECH’s anode technology, which is exclusively licensed from SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE), can produce lighter lithium-ion batteries that charge faster – with charging rates as low as 6 minutes – have longer times between charging, and offer increased lifetimes of more than 1,000 cycles.

About BESSTECH LLC
BESSTECH LLC is a lithium-ion component design and engineering company, delivering solutions to lithium-ion battery manufacturers and assemblers. Its first product is a silicon-based nanoengineered anode for lithium-ion battery systems. BESSTECH’s anode technology provides 3 to 4 times the energy capacity of carbon anodes, charging rates as low as 6 minutes, and a lifetime of more than 1000 cycles. Its manufacturing process enables production of a fully functional anode at half the cost of traditional carbon anodes. BESSTECH’s anode is completely carbon free and does not require the use of solvents, binders, dry rooms, calendaring lines, or drying lines. As a result, battery assemblers can produce batteries with better performance at more competitive prices. For more information, visit www.bess-tech.com.
