Abstract:
Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq: CY), the market leader in touch-sensing, announced its TrueTouch® capacitive touchscreen controllers support designs with SANTE® silver nanoparticle touch sensors from Cima NanoTech, here at Mobile World Congress. Cima NanoTech's SANTE FS200 Touch Films is the first silver nanoparticle-based touch sensor compatible with Cypress's TrueTouch controllers. The companies are collaborating to leverage the unique strengths of SANTE technology and the industry-leading noise immunity, water resistance and other advanced features of the TrueTouch portfolio.
Cima NanoTech's SANTE self-assembling nanoparticle conductive coating is an innovative material for transparent conductors that is non-moiré, mechanically flexible, and possesses high transparency at very low surface resistance. Its high conductivity, excellent optical properties, flexibility and manufacturability makes it ideal for emerging applications such as large-sized touchscreens, curved displays, wearables and flexible displays. SANTE FS200 Touch Films are commercially available and are compatible with existing processing, etching and lamination methods, providing manufacturers with supply chain freedom. Cypress is also partnering with leading silver nanowire and metal mesh vendors to increase the accessibility of these technologies to its customers.
"We have been working closely with Cypress to optimize our technology for the touch market and to provide new, innovative solutions for single-layer/low-cost sensors, large-format touchscreens, and next-generation touch applications that are curved, flexible, wearable, robust, and lightweight," commented Jon Brodd, Chief Executive Officer, Cima NanoTech.
"Cypress is collaborating with innovative smart materials companies such as Cima NanoTech to enable our customers to develop the ideal touchscreen for their unique application," said John Carey, Senior Director of TrueTouch Marketing at Cypress. "We give our customers the flexibility to combine the advantages of silver nanoparticle sensors or other technologies with the industry-leading features of our TrueTouch controllers."
Touch Leadership
Cypress's touch-sensing portfolio is the industry's broadest and most well-adopted, encompassing TrueTouch, CapSense, and TrackPad solutions. The company's unmatched IP portfolio is backed by more than 100 capacitive touch-sensing patents. The IP includes true, single-layer sensor solutions with Cypress's Single-Layer Independent Multi-touch (SLIM®) sensor for dramatically reduced touchscreen costs. Additional TrueTouch information is available at touch.cypress.com.
