AXT Appointed Exclusive Distributor for Fischione Instruments

Sydney, Australia | Posted on November 29th, 2013

Fischione designs, develops, manufactures, and distributes advanced microscopy and nanotechnology devices to the global scientific community. Its broad range of products includes ion beam sample preparation systems, conventional specimen preparation devices, specimen holders and contamination solutions.

Fischione's revolutionary Model 1040 NanoMill® TEM specimen preparation system is an excellent tool for creating the high-quality thin specimens needed for advanced transmission electron microscopy (TEM) imaging and analysis. The NanoMill system's concentrated ion beam removes amorphous and implanted layers and is ideal for both post- focused ion beam processing and the enhancement of conventionally prepared specimens.

Both the Model 1050 TEM Mill and the Model 1060 SEM Mill incorporate two independently adjustable ion sources; high-energy operation for rapid milling and low-energy operation for polishing; adjustable milling angle; sample rocking or rotation; and programmable milling operations. The ion beam preparation systems consistently produce high-quality samples for electron microscopy.

Fischione's Model 1030 Automated Sample Preparation (ASaP) system combines four functions in one chamber: plasma cleaning, ion beam etching, reactive ion etching, and ion beam sputter coating. The ASaP system provides fast, consistent, high throughput and is fully programmable.

Fischione offers a range of conventional sample preparation equipment, including electropolishers, specimen punches, dimpling grinders, and disk cutters. Additional products include room-temperature specimen holders for TEM tomographic studies and contamination solutions, such as the Model 1020 Plasma Cleaner, which quickly removes organic contamination from specimens, specimen holders, and specimen mounts and the Model 1070 NanoClean for advanced applications.

"We look forward to working with AXT; we see a lot of potential for our products in the Australian and New Zealand markets", said Fischione Instruments CEO Paul Fischione.

AXT Managing Director, Richard Trett added, "The Fischione product range complements our existing range of sample preparation equipment and Tescan electron microscopes, allowing us to offer a broader range of solutions to our existing clients and open up more opportunities for new clients".

AXT is showcasing Fischione products, as well as their other microscopy and sample preparation offerings, at the joint ACMM23/ICONN2104 conference (the 23rd Australian Conference on Microscopy and Microanalysis, and the 2014 International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology), which takes place February 2-6, 2013 in Adelaide, Australia.
