Iran Sets Up 1st Specialized Nanotechnology Lab for Students in Tehran

Tehran, Iran | Posted on January 26th, 2013

The inauguration ceremony of the laboratory was held in the presence of the Secretary- General of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council Dr. Saeed Sarkar, Deputy of the Ministry of Education and Training for Secondary Education Affairs, and a number of school headmasters and managers of research centers of Tehran.

The laboratory is established with the support of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) and the Ministry of Education and Training. The laboratory has been equipped with Iranian devices required in nanotechnology, including electrospinning device, wire electrical explosion onboard sputtering device, and scanning tunneling microscope (STM).

In the opening ceremony of the laboratory, Dr. Sarkar said, "Investing on students' activities guarantees the future of the country. It is our duty to create an appropriate environment for the growth and progress in this field."

The Deputy of the Ministry of Education and Training for Secondary Education Affairs stated that seven students' laboratories would be established until the end of year, and continued, "With the cooperation of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council, we are up to establish students' laboratories in six other provinces of the country."

Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council decided to start the program to equip nanotechnology laboratories for students in the beginning of 2012 in association with the Ministry of Education and Training in order to promote this technology, guide and organize research activities of the students, and to improve the national self-confidence in students by equipping the laboratories with the domestically-produced nanotechnology devices.
