Abstract:
As a showcase of Governor Andrew Cuomo's innovation-driven economic development model embodied by New York's globally recognized nanotechnology industry, the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) of the University at Albany and M+W Group (M+W) today announced plans to host a High-Tech Job Fair - supported by a joint community outreach to strongly encourage participation from women and underrepresented social groups in engineering and technical fields - to assist M+W in adding more than 50 positions to its workforce in New York's Capital Region.

CNSE will host High-Tech Job Fair for M+W Group: Special outreach to encourage women and minority candidates to participate in August 28 event that will fill more than 50 positions in design operations and construction management

Albany, NY | Posted on August 20th, 2012

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo said, "The new New York State is a place where businesses can invest, create jobs, and prosper. The continued growth of New York's world-class nanotechnology economy is further underscored by the High-Tech Job Fair to be held at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. These positions demonstrate the exciting careers that are being enabled across New York State, and it is particularly encouraging to see these opportunities available to all New Yorkers, including individuals typically underrepresented in the fields of science and engineering."

Rick Whitney, President and CEO of M+W U.S. Inc., said, "We are delighted to partner with the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, the worldwide leader in nanotechnology education and innovation, as we further build the highly skilled workforce that is critical to enabling M+W Group's high-tech design and construction initiatives. We look forward to speaking with a wide variety of candidates, and in welcoming new members to our first-rate team headquartered in New York state, which will support projects in the Empire State and around the world."

Dr. Alain E. Kaloyeros, Senior Vice President and CEO of CNSE, said, "Consistent with Governor Andrew Cuomo's visionary leadership and steadfast support in making New York the global hub for the emerging nanotechnology industry, the UAlbany NanoCollege is pleased to work with M+W Group in further developing a world-class, high-tech workforce in New York state. These opportunities highlight the significant economic impact spurred by the rapid growth of New York's nanotechnology economy, which is providing new and exciting career prospects to individuals throughout our community, including those traditionally underrepresented in science and engineering."

A significant outreach effort is underway to encourage women and minority candidates, as well as veterans, to participate in the Job Fair, scheduled for Tuesday, August 28 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at CNSE's Albany NanoTech Complex. Candidates will have a chance to learn more about, and apply for, the job openings at that event, and to participate in initial interviews with representatives of M+W.

Among more than 50 career opportunities are positions in various areas of design operations and construction management, including architects, engineers and designers, project managers, and accounting and support staff. These positions carry annual salaries that range from $40,000 to over $100,000, and some offer both domestic and international travel opportunities in support of M+W's global projects.

Those interested in attending and interviewing at the Job Fair are encouraged to pre-register and upload their resumes online by visiting cnse.albany.edu/Outreach/JobFair2012.aspx.

With its U.S. headquarters at the Watervliet Arsenal and global headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, M+W is one of the world's foremost companies for the design and construction of high-tech buildings and cleanroom facilities for research and development, pilot manufacturing, manufacturing, and assembly and testing operations.
