About University of Texas Venture Labs Investment Competition Winner:
The Global Venture Labs Investment Competition dubbed "the Super Bowl of world investment competitions" (formerly Moot Corp) is the premier world-wide investment competition for graduate students hosted annually at The University of Texas at Austin. Started by MBA students in 1984, the Competition (vlic.utexas.edu) which simulates the process of raising venture capital is the oldest new venture competition in the world.
The 2012 winner of the competition, NuMat Technologies from Northwestern University, has developed a new class of nanomaterials whose performance breaks world records, has valuable technology assets, and a strong IP portfolio. There is real commercial interest in its technology and potential customers are seeking samples of its nanomaterials today. The market potential for natural gas vehicles, to say nothing of the many other application segments, is large—up to $20-$40 B annually. Furthermore, NuMat has the right team, with the right capabilities, and a commitment to success that is readily apparent in the fast pace of its accomplishments. With existing markets in the billion dollar scale and new markets for its nanaomaterials on the horizon, it is an exciting time to invest in NuMat Technologies.
