The Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council affiliated to the presidential office announced on Saturday that it plans to organize various educational contests in 2012 in a bid to increase the quality of nanotechnology education in the country.

INIC Planning Different Nanotechnology Contests in Iran

Tehran, Iran | Posted on December 24th, 2011

The most important contests are as follows: Second National Nanotechnology Competition, Third Student Nanotechnology Olympiad, and Examination to Evaluate the Capability to Teach Nanotechnology for the teachers of nanotechnology educational courses.

The purpose of the examination is to improve the ability of the teachers in nanotechnology educational courses. Since a great number of promotional bodies hold educational nanotechnology courses in universities and volunteer institutes, Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council values high ability of teachers to teach nanotechnology issues. Contestants who obtain the required grade in both scientific and educational indices in the examination will receive teaching certificate at the three levels 'Teacher Level A', 'Teacher Level B', and 'Teacher Level C' from Promotion Workgroup of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council.

National Nanotechnology Competition is another educational activity of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council in order to improve the ability of university students to use nanotechnology analytical devices. Technical knowledge required for the use and data analysis of equipment that are used in Nanoscience are taught to the university students during the competition so their skills are improved.

Student Nanotechnology Olympiad is considered as one of the successful projects carried out by Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council in educational affairs of students. The quality of research projects carried out by the best students in Iran sometimes is similar to that of university researches, and the winners of the Olympiads have succeeded in the publication of their achievements in the international journals.

By organizing such contests, Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council aims to improve the quality of education and to train a new generation of nanotechnology researchers in the country.
