Home > Press > Practical Camp of 2nd Nanotechnology Olympiad for Students Kicks Off Work
Abstract:
The 10-day practical camp of the Second Student Nanotechnology Olympiad started work with the top 20 students who qualified in the second examination of the Olympiad.
Students are supposed to sit for the second stage of the examination on September 11, when the practical camp is over. During this camp, students get ready for the second stage of the examination in the two laboratories and educational workshop sections.
The laboratory courses of the Student Nanotechnology Olympiad will be held in Research Institute of Petroleum Industry. In this section, the contestants are classified in the five groups of four students strong. Each group will practically be taught issues such as the synthesis of nanoadsorbents, nanofilters, nanocatalysts, magnetic fluids, and nanoemulsions. Afterwards, an educational workshop will be held by the title Simulation in Nanotechnology. Finally, the second examination of the Student Nanotechnology Olympiad will be held.
More than 4,000 contestants at secondary school and high school levels took part in the first stage of the examination. This stage was held simultaneously in 15 provinces of the country on July 29, 2011. Students who were shortlisted in the first stage will participate in the second stage of the examination after finishing the practical camp. The high-ranked students in the Olympiads will be finally introduced in the Fourth Iran Nanotechnology Festival (Iran Nano 2011).
