Abstract:
The number of participants in the 2nd Student Nanotechnology Olympiad in Iran exceeded 4,000 people, Iran's Nano Club announced.
According to the statistics obtained from Nano Club, since the beginning to the end of the registration period of the Second Student Nanotechnology Olympiad, 4283 students have registered individually or in groups from 31 provinces of the country to participate in the first stage of the Olympiad's examination. The number of the participants in the examination is three times more than last year's participants.
The first stage of the 2nd Student Nanotechnology Olympiad examination will be held in 18 cities in the 13 provinces of Hamadan, North Khorassan, Hormozgan, Tehran, Fars, Isfahan, Kerman, Kohgilouye and Boyerahmad, Khorassan Razavi, Semnan, East Azarbaijan, Mazandaran and Markazi.
The practical stage of the examination will be held on August 27, 2011. In addition, an educational course will be held on from September 3 to 10 for the participants who are qualified in the first stage in order to prepare them to take part in the second stage of the examination on September 20. It has been planned that the final winners of the Olympiads will be awarded in the Nanotechnology Festival 2011.
Nano-Club (affiliated to Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council) has been holding a scientific competition entitled 'Student Nanotechnology Olympiad' since 2010. In this competition, all students who are familiar with nanotechnology take part in a scientific competition at two stages.
The references for the competition are as follows: atomic and molecular issues from physics and chemistry educational books, intra-cellular issues from biology books, articles published in Nano-Club's website (www.nanoclub.ir), books suggested by Nano Club, and programming skills.
