Iran Holds First National Competition on Identification of Nano Equipment

Tehran, Iran | Posted on May 23rd, 2011

According to Emad Ahmadvand (the organizer of the Competition), provision of an appropriate atmosphere to manufacture the domestic equipment in the field of nanotechnology is one of the important objectives of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council, and a proper training of human resources is essential in order to achieve this objective.

Emphasizing the necessity to organize such competitions at the domestic level, Ahmadvand continued, "We can obtain this goal by organizing such competitions and by creating a competitive attitude among the contestants."

Asked by Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council's reporter about the number of the contestants and how they qualify for the second round of the competition, he said "The top 15-20 contestants of the first round who acquire 80% of the score of the theoretical examination will qualify for the second round."

The organizer of the Competition on Identification of Nanotechnology Equipment announced that approximately 2300 contestants have registered in the first round of the competition

"Among the 2300 contestants who have registered in this competition, 219 were PhD students, 885 were MSc students, and the rest were BSc students. High school and intermediate students constituted 200 of the participants in the event."

Top contestants who have passed the theoretical examination will compete in the practical examination after passing a practical course on the equipment identification. The winners of the competition will be introduced in the Fourth Nanotechnology Festival.
This is the first time that a competition on Identification of Nanotechnology Equipment is held in the world.
