Abstract:
The secretary of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council announced that INIC plans to establish nanotechnology laboratories for students in different Iranian provinces.

INIC to Establish Nano-Labs for Students in Iranian Provinces

According to Dr Sarkar, Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council seeks to establish and equip laboratories for the students in order to educate them in nanotechnology-related fields and to carry out research activities in association with the Ministry of Education and Training and the General Governorate Offices all over the country.

Increasing the number of students and teachers who are familiar with nanotechnology, holding 600 seminars and training courses in the past few years, holding 6 educational exhibitions in the country's provinces, holding the First Nanotechnology Olympiad for Students in 2010 and taking action for the organization of the Second Nanotechnology Olympiad for Students in May 2011 have created a research environment at students level, which requires research laboratories for the interested students to carry out their activities.

A preliminary evaluation shows that a budget of 600 million rials ($60,000) can meet the needs of students to carry out researches on nanotechnology and to experiment the initial ideas if the laboratory equipment is available.

"It is expected that at least five laboratories are equipped or established in five centers of provinces by March 2012," the Secretary of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council stated.

According to the Prospect Document of Nanotechnology Development, Promotion Workgroup of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council is in charge of teaching nanotechnology at a level before university. Therefore, Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council has supported all promotional and educational activities in the field of nanotechnology since 2004.
