Abstract:
Contour Energy Systems, an innovative portable power company commercializing next-generation battery systems, today announced the addition of two new lithium batteries to its coin cell product line in response to worldwide demand driven by advanced electronics devices spanning OEM, consumer, medical and automotive markets. Contour's new 2016 and 2450 lithium coin cells provide the small form factor, extended run time, higher voltage and ability to operate under wide temperature ranges required by advanced and next-generation portable electronics.
"Coin cells are one of the fast growing market segments for primary batteries worldwide," said Joe Carcone, vice president of sales and marketing for Contour Energy Systems. "Advanced portable electronics spanning multiple vertical industries are driving this global demand for lithium coin cells. OEM applications in medical, consumer, automotive and military markets are seeking high performance coin cell batteries that can deliver optimal run times, long shelf life and high voltage to meet new product designs. Contour's new 2016 and 2450 batteries address these requirements head on."
Contour's new 2016 lithium coin cell, featuring proprietary advanced materials, is a 3.0-volt battery that operates in a temperature range of -20C to 70C and a storage temperature range of 0C to 30C. With rated capacities of 75 mAhr, the 2016 is optimized for very long run times and provides OEMs with a lightweight (2.0 grams) portable power solution.
Contour's new 2450 lithium coin cell, which leverages proprietary advanced materials, is also a 3.0-volt battery capable of operating in a temperature range from -20C to 70C and a storage temperature range of 0C to 30C. The 2450's small form factor and low profile is attractive to OEMs developing increasingly lightweight portable electronic devices with smaller and smaller power supply compartments, and features a rated capacity of 600 mAhr. This design provides exceptionally long run times for a wide variety of applications including external medical devices, tire pressure monitoring systems, innovative consumer products and industrial devices.
