Abstract:
Industry Leaders Meet to Discuss Opportunities and Challenges of North America's Large-Scale Solar Boom
WHO: RUBENIUS, a Dubai-based alternative energy and smart grid enabler, has been invited to participate in PHOTON's 5th Solar Electric Utility Conference. Jacob Rikard Nielsen, vice president business development of RUBENIUS, will speak on "Grid integration: Enabling a smooth transition to high solar penetration." He will also take part in a panel discussion at the end of the session.
WHAT: PHOTON's 5th Solar Electric Utility Conference features North America's leading experts from the solar industry, regulators, utilities and investors to discuss the impact and challenges of unprecedented solar growth. The conference is part of PHOTON's Solar Terawatt-hours Conference Series, which takes place each year both in Europe and the United States.
WHEN: February 17, 2011
WHERE: San Francisco, Calif. University of California, San Francisco's Mission Bay Conference Center
WHY: As the PV sector is reaching a terawatt-hour scale, PHOTON has organized its Solar Terawatt-hours Conference Series to discuss the challenges of this quick growth - regarding the safety of the uncounted numbers of installed PV systems, the financing of innovative technologies and the integration of solar into the utility landscape.
As a whole, the conference will examine solar power's impact on the traditional power-generation sector - from business opportunities to developing new revenue streams, to technical and economic challenges associated with both distributed and large-scale solar power by focusing on:
- Solar sector growth and cost estimates
- Financing and owning solar power plants
- Solar power plant technology options
- Transmission and sitting requirements
- Preparing the grid for multiple solar terawatt-hours
