Abstract:
The owners of store rooms, including fruits and vegetables cold stores, welcomed nano-adsorbents presented in the complementary seminars on nanotechnology applications in improving the longevity of agricultural products.
The seminars 'Application of Nanotechnology in Kiwi Quality' and 'Application of Nanotechnology in the Quality Management of Citruses' were held for the third time in November 2010 by Zist Pazhoohan-e Khavar-e Miyaneh Company in order to increase the share in the market and to give information about the application of each of the company's products.
Among the products presented in the seminars, mention can be made of the two types of nano-adsorbents for cold stores and nano-coatings for the fruits. In addition, the performance of the products in the orchards where they had been used was displayed during the seminars.
Installing ethylene nano-adsorbents in the fruits and vegetables storing places and in the carrying containers improves the preservation period of the fruits and vegetables. On the one hand, the amount of fruits and vegetables waste decreases proportionally, and on the other hand, adsorption of ethylene in comparison with the similar foreign products is five times faster, and it is another advantage of nano-adsorbents.
Considering the fact that natural zeolites have been used in this product, the net price of nano-adsorbents is lower than that of the foreign ones. Therefore, they are able to compete with other products in the domestic and international markets.
Selling 65 nano-adsorbents and 40 nano-coatings for the fruits to be installed in cold stores and shops was among the achievements of the two seminars.
The production of ethylene nano-adsorbents, which is obtained from materials such as natural zeolite and ethylene oxidant materials like potassium permanganate, was started in February 2009 by Zist Pazhoohan-e Khavar-e Miyaneh Company.
