Sensational end to Dundee Science Festival
Abstract:
Teachers and researchers were given a big lesson in very small things on Saturday when the Sensation centre held an event on nanotechnology.
The science of manipulating matter at the molecular or atomic level, nanotechnology has potentially important applications for a diverse range of topics, including healthcare and the environment.
Those taking part in the Time for Nano session were able to experiment with fluids and materials and take away a free kit packed with activities for their classroom or laboratory.
Linda Leuchars, the centre's science learning manager, said, "Through provision of teacher resources and training and hosting of meet-the-scientist events, we aim to promote awareness and understanding of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
"It is a scientific area that may seem so unfamiliar to people but one that can have a significant impact on our society."
