Rep. Jan Schakowsky Visits NanoInk Headquarters in Skokie

Skokie, IL | Posted on October 13th, 2010

NanoInk, Inc.®, a global leader in nanotechnology, announced today that Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-IL, visited NanoInk's headquarters on Tuesday, October 12 as part of a tour of the Illinois Science and Technology Park in Skokie, Ill. During her visit, Rep. Schakowsky learned more about the benefits and uses of nanotechnology by visiting the NanoProfessor™ Nanoscience Education Lab and viewing demonstrations of NanoInk's NanoFabrication Systems Division equipment including the NLP 2000 System and the DPN® 5000 System.

"The NanoInk headquarters is a state-of-the-art facility that serves as an example of the kind of technological innovation that is possible in Illinois," said Rep. Schakowsky. "NanoInk fosters sophisticated technology in both business and education, combining the expertise needed to guide the advancement of this complex field."

James Hussey, chief executive officer for NanoInk said, "We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to host Rep. Schakowsky and showcase nanotechnology's increasing range of uses and related commercial applications. At NanoInk, we recognize the important role that nanotechnology will play in our future and are committed to helping schools train students for future careers as nanotechnologists."

NanoInk's NanoProfessor Nanoscience Education Program aims to expand hands-on nanotechnology education from the cleanrooms of research-based universities to undergraduate classrooms. The program alternates between classroom lectures and hands-on lab work and includes a 275-page textbook authored by leading nanotechnology experts covering the topics of Nanotechnology Basics, NanoPhysics, NanoChemistry, NanoBiology and Environmental, Health, and Safety perspectives on nanotechnology.

NanoInk's NanoFabrication Systems Division brings sophisticated nanofabrication to the laboratory desktop in an easy to use and affordable setting. NanoInk's NLP 2000 System is a desktop nanofabrication system that allows researchers to rapidly design and create custom engineered and functionalized surfaces, using Dip Pen Nanolithography® (DPN®) to transfer minute amounts of materials over a large, environmentally controlled work area.

The DPN 5000 System is a full-featured, dedicated instrument for versatile nanopatterning of a variety of materials with nanoscale accuracy and precision. With its user-friendly interface, it is possible to easily design complex patterns while also precisely controlling the tip movements during the writing process.
