ICPC Nanonet Brings Nano Experts to your Office

EU | Posted on August 26th, 2010

1. Nanotechnology for a Knowledge Society in Emerging Economies and Developing Countries.

* Session 1. Thursday 2nd September 13.00-15.00 GMT (15.00-17.00 CET) (Latin America and Africa)
* Session 2: Tuesday 7th September 8.45-10.45 GMT (10.45-12.45 CET) (Europe and Asia)

This first series presents an opportunity to join an online debate on contributions nanotechnology may make to a knowledge society in developing countries and emerging economies. The webinars, which are taking place in the context of the Nanorecht & Vrede project supported by Nanopodium www.nanopodium.nl and ICPC NanoNet, offer a platform for information exchange on good practices and proposals for international cooperation among governments of the Netherlands, the EU and International Cooperation Partner Countries of the EU (developing countries and emerging economies).

Speakers include:

* Prof Dr Peter Nijkamp, President of the Committee Societal Dialogue Nanotechnology
* Dr Malini Balakrishnan,TERI, India
* Prof Dr Arie Rip, University of Twente, Netherlands
* Prof Dr Noela Invernizzi, University of Parana, Brazil, co-coordinator of ReLANS network
* Prof Dr Malik Maaza, iThemba LABS, Cape Town; NanoAfNet, Africa
* Ineke Malsch, Malsch TechnoValuation, The Netherlands
* Lesley Tobin, Institute of Nanotechnology, co-ordinator of the ICPC Nanonet project.

2. Nanotechnology for Biomedical Applications

Tuesday 14th September: 09:00 GMT (11.00am CET)

The second in this series focuses Bio Nanosensors and Biomedical Devices. Topics to be presented and discussed include Nanobiomaterials and Tissue Engineering, Nanotechnology for Drug Delivery and Nano-macro Porous Glass Bone-scaffolds

Speakers include:

* Prof. Vasýf Hasýrcý, Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Research Center, METU,
* Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai, National Nanotechnology Center, NANOTEC Thailand
* Prof. Aboubaker Beye, Cheikh Anta Diop Université, Senegal; NanoAfNet

All you require is a PC/Laptop (not a Mac) and a headset.

For webinar programmes and to sign up for any or all of the sessions, go to www.icpc-nanonet.org.

Webinar participants must also be registered on the ICPC Nanonet website. Registration is free and gives users access to region reports as well as online directories of researchers and organisations.
