Abstract:
Experienced Leader in Building Public and Private Companies Takes the Helm at Developer of Quantum Light™ Nanotechnology -based Products Poised for Major Growth

Jason Carlson Named President and CEO of QD Vision

Watertown, MA | Posted on July 2nd, 2010

QD Vision (www.qdvision.com), developer of Quantum Light™ nanotechnology-based products for solid state lighting and displays, announced that Jason Carlson has been named President and CEO.

Carlson brings to QD Vision significant leadership experience in building organizations, from startups to publicly held, multisite, multinational corporations. In addition, he was instrumental in two successful liquidity events for high tech start-ups, including one as CEO. Carlson joins the company as it experiences significant growth driven by interest in its Quantum Light™ products.

"Jason Carlson will take QD Vision to the next level," said Jamie Goldstein, general partner at North Bridge Venture Partners. "He has a proven track record as a visionary leader skilled at generating business, growing revenues and achieving profitability at both public and private companies. QD Vision is poised to broadly scale its lighting and display businesses while introducing products in other markets. Jason's experience is a perfect fit for the company."

Carlson joins QD Vision from Emo Labs, a Waltham, MA-based company developing invisible loudspeaker systems, where he was President and CEO since 2006. Previously, he was CEO at Semtech Corp. (SMTC), and Audiologic Inc., and held senior executive positions at Cirrus Logic (CRUS) and ReSound (RSND), where he was a member of the founding team.

Carlson replaces Dan Button who served as QD Vision's President and CEO since 2007. Button built QD Vision's team that commercialized its technology and launched the world's first quantum dot product for solid state lighting applications. Button played a similar role at E Ink, leading the company through its first product launch.

The Quantum Light™ optic enables LED lighting companies to produce lamps and downlight fixtures that combine the familiar warmth and color of incandescent bulbs with the energy efficiency of LED technology. QD Vision is also targeting its Quantum Light™ products at the LCD industry, where it will deliver step-change improvements in light throughput, power efficiency and color gamut, underpinning a strong cost and value proposition.
