Abstract:
Beneq, leading provider of new industrial equipment and technology based on atomic layer deposition (ALD) equipment, and ALD NanoSolutions, renowned developer of ALD processes and applications, including proprietary Particle ALDTM and Polymer ALDTM, have today signed a letter of intent (LOI) for future collaboration.

Beneq And ALD NanoSolutions Form Collaboration For Particle ALDTM

Finland | Posted on June 15th, 2010

The collaboration is intended to provide a framework for the two companies to work together in developing ALD for particles and powders. ALD NanoSolutions has extensive experience in developing ALD as a process for particulate matter, and holds an impressive patent portfolio in the field. Beneq draws on its acknowledged know-how in turning processes and applications into full-size production equipment. By combining their deep knowledge of ALD, the collaboration offers customers an unmatched global center of excellence in the field. Together, these two companies will bring Particle ALDTM to the market as mature technology, economically feasible applications and robust and reliable equipment.

In the words of Sampo Ahonen, Beneq CEO: "This collaboration is a welcome addition to the growing ALD expertise of Beneq. Beneq, primarily being an equipment manufacturer, will benefit greatly from the input from ALD NanoSolutions. With this agreement, Beneq is taking a decisive step into the realm of particle and powder ALD, a field we see great potential in and in which we want grow and serve our customers. The first focus applications for particle and powder ALD will be in the area of Li-ion batteries and new materials. Of all the ALD manufacturers in the world today, it is truly gratifying to be the one ALD NanoSolutions, the forerunner in advanced ALD powder applications today, chose to partner with."

Jeff Lints, ALD NanoSolutions Vice President, commented further: "We are excited that this collaboration with Beneq will provide our mutual customers with a total solution, something we have heard from them for some time. ALD NanoSolutions will continue to meet customers' immediate and long term material and material development needs, while Beneq's outstanding reputation in providing reactor systems will give our customers the opportunity to develop their applications with the technology in a cohesive and seamless manner. The collaboration will offer customers faster development cycles and economical advantages to compete with in their marketplace."
