At a forum hosted today at Polytechnic Institute of New York University ( NYU-Poly ), clean energy companies from across New York State will report on cutting-edge work they are doing to develop new products and services to improve energy efficiency in New York State and throughout the country.

Investors, Entrepreneurs Can Learn More about Growing Clean Energy Businesses at NYU-Poly Forum Today

The program, featuring new and growing companies that have been assisted by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority ( NYSERDA ), will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rogers Hall at NYU-Poly, 6 Metrotech Center, Brooklyn. There also will be presentations from the six business incubators NYSERDA has funded across New York State.

Entrepreneurs, investors, service-providers, and service providers will have the opportunity to hear from and meet representatives from exciting and entrepreneurial clean-energy companies including startups and established companies with growth prospects in the clean-energy industry. Technologies covered include power generation, biomass, solar photovoltaics, wind energy, energy efficiency, transportation, and energy conversion and storage.

NYSERDA President and CEO Francis J. Murray said, "This forum demonstrates New York's leadership in the critically important field of energy efficiency technologies. NYSERDA's partnerships with these innovative companies will help these companies grow, create jobs, and develop the next generation of technologies to address our energy challenges of the future."

Over the past three years, NYSERDA has allocated nearly $30 million to help clean energy and energy efficiency product manufactures and early-stage clean energy companies. Included in this funding is $20 million to help companies increase their access to new markets, solidify business plans, raise capital and build their business infrastructure, and $9 million to establish clean energy business incubators throughout the state.

The NYSERDA-funded business incubators, which will be represented at today's program, are located at the University at Buffalo, Rochester Institute of Technology, Tech Garden in Syracuse, College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at the University at Albany, Stony Brook University (Long Island), and NYU-Poly. These incubators are helping emerging clean energy technology companies and entrepreneurs through incubation, acceleration, and retention with the goal of creating new business and increased employment opportunities in the growing clean energy economy.

NYSERDA's clean energy business growth and acceleration opportunities encompass both direct support of clean energy companies and maintaining an infrastructure to foster entrepreneurship and growth. Direct funding programs include Manufacturing Incentives, Clean Energy Business Growth and Development, and a product commercialization pilot program.
