Science Center Proposed at University
Abstract:
Big plans were unveiled at a university in central Pennsylvania and they have everything to do with science.
Lock Haven University held a science summit Wednesday which was essentially a brainstorming session, meant to develop new ways to meet the growing need for scientists and engineers in Pennsylvania.
The science labs at Lock Haven University could soon be a thing of the past. The university wants to build a new science center on its east campus.
It would house the geology, physics, biology and chemistry departments and would only build on the success the university's science program has had, according to Dean of Arts and Sciences David White.
"With a state of the art structure, we're hoping to attract the best students out there in the state of Pennsylvania," said White.
The plans call for a Clean Lab; a pure, clean working environment meant for students studying nanotechnology. It is something Lock Haven graduate and current industry leader Jim Whaley thinks is needed.
