Professors take expertise to marketplace
Abstract:
Charles Gibson, a UW-Oshkosh chemistry professor, said he's participating in the contest for the second time to improve the business plan for his company, Oshkosh Nanotechnology LLC.
Armed with three pending patents, Oshkosh Nanotechnology is trying to develop and commercialize high-performance electrical energy storage devices made with nanomaterials.
"What I learned last year was to shift my thinking from the technology to commercialization," said Gibson, whose company has received a $150,000 federal innovation grant from the National Science Foundation.
There's a lot more support for the state's start-up companies in the last five to 10 years, said Heim, WARF's start-up manager.
