URMC researchers get stem cell grants
Abstract:
Stem cell research at the University of Rochester Medical Center received a financial boost with the recent grant of $4.5 million in state funding to eight researchers.
The scientists were among 49 statewide from 16 institutions to share a $34.7 million pot.
One example might be Xinping Zhang's work that uses nanotechnology to control cell growth in bone repair, which Berk said could be applied to knee and hip replacements. He also said that Noble's work "could be quite close."
